My Family Tapestry

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him." Psalm 28:7

Hello... I'm Sandy

For over 30 years I have had a camera in my hands, capturing life's ups and downs, recording the precious memories of my family and friends along the way.

My husband, Bill, and I have been married since August of 1980. (Feel free to do the math - that's a lot of years!) Bill and I are still crazy in love, and continue to learn new things about one other.

We were married almost 15 years before we became parents through the miracle of adoption. Our oldest daughters, twins we named Sarah and Hannah, arrived from South Korea on a rainy spring day in 1995. Our daughter, Joanne. was less than one month old when she was placed with us in September 2002. Her biological half sister, Myah, was placed with us at 11 days old in April 2005, thus completing our family.

Raising our rambunctious multicultural, transracial family is challenging at times, but a huge blessing to us always. Bill and I firmly believe that God placed each of our children in our family.

Sandy Reder Photography began in 1983 with the purchase of my first 35mm SLR camera. Actually, my husband and I went into the camera store intending to purchase one of those new "One Touch 35mm" cameras, like my brother just got. It took some convincing from the salesman and Bill that the single lens reflex camera was the way to go.

I quickly found that photography was my passion and I was unstoppable. Weddings, events, holidays and vacations were seen from behind a lens, in addition to family gatherings and my own kids.

In 2010 I decided that it was almost time to start my portrait business. I wanted to help families preserve their history. I went back to school to further enhance my skills and earn a degree in Digital Photography.

I am a trained professional in the art and science of photography. In 2013, upon my graduation from Harrington College of Design, I began Sandy Reder Photography.

The focus of my business is on the needs of my clients - from the first inquiry to the delivery of their fine art products. I strive to provide an exceptional experience, stunning original artwork, and archival quality print products that will last for generations.

A few fun facts about me:

  • My God, my husband and my children come first in my life, and in that order.
  • I am a fiercely loyal friend.
  • Those that know me well laugh when I say that I'm actually a bit shy.
  • People have often said that they think that I have a lot of patience.
  • I am an avid reader in spite of my busy life.
  • Hanging on my dining room wall are early 20th Century portraits of my great grandparents. My kids think that they are creepy, but I am so thankful that I have them.
  • Needle arts have always been enjoyable for me. I enjoy sewing, knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, appliqué and quilting.
  • More of my needlework projects have been made for gifts than I've made for my own home.
  • I LOVE scrapbooking! Much as I enjoy working with paper and stickers and die cuts (Oh my!), I was drawn to scrapbooking because I could bring together my photos and memorabilia in one place, and preserve them safely using archival quality products.
